We
don't know exactly what happens inside of us when we do hatha
yoga. Nevertheless, we can define Hatha Yoga as a place to
start. In hatha yoga we practice what is called "asana",
which is a Sanskrit word that lacks of a precise translation.
Asana is one of the eight limbs of classical yoga; it is defined
as "posture" or "seat." Originally, the
asanas served as stable postures for prolonged meditation.
In Hatha Yoga, we use asanas to open the energy channels,
cleanse the chakras, purify and strengthen the body, and focus
the mind.
